Mass spectrometric and Raman spectroscopic methods as reference procedures to immunochemical analysis of large molecules

Mass spectrometric and Raman spectroscopic methods as reference procedures to immunochemical analysis of large molecules

Description : Diagnostic valuable markers, for example PSA in prostate cancer control, are usually determined by immunoassays. The reliability of this analysis suffers from cross-reactions and lack of standardization of the antibody sera used. Therefore, reference methods of higher metrological accuracy are required. Isotopic dilution mass spectrometry is widely applied for the quantitative analysis of small molecules. For larger indicator molecules, however, new sample preparation methods must be developed. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy also offers a high potential for the marker-free, reliable and fast analysis of diagnostically valuable macromolecules. Dr. Güttler / Prof. Dr. Petra Mischnick You are required to hold an excellent university degree (master’s or equivalent degree) in physics, chemistry, electrical or mechanical engineering, mathematics, information technology or related fields. The entire program is run in English, so fluency in both written and spoken English is required. Skills in German are welcome. You may be a member of and receive a scholarship from the IGSM for up to 3 years. In your first semester, you will be accepted on a probationary basis. Please note that application is only possible online at www.igsm.tu-bs.de.
