The Cystic Fibrosis / Pulmonary Research Group at the Division of Pediatric Pulmonology & Allergy and Cystic Fibrosis Center, Department of Pediatrics III, University of Heidelberg is an interdisciplinary research group working on the molecular pathogenesis and novel therapeutic strategies for cystic fibrosis and other chronic lung diseases using animal models for human disease (Mall et al. Nat. Med. 2004 and Zhou et al. AJRCCM 2008).

We are seeking a highly motivated experienced scientist and good team player for a research project investigating the role of microRNAs in the pathogenesis and as potential therapeutic targets for chronic lung disease in mouse models. Responsibilities include supervision of graduate students and technicians. This project is funded by the DFG and is embedded within the attractive research environment of the Molecular Medicine Partnership Unit (MMPU) of the University of Heidelberg and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). The position is initially available for three years and the salary is equivalent to BAT IIa (TV-L E13).

Applicants must hold a PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or genetics and have excellent skills in molecular and cell biology techniques, microarray analyses and bioinformatics. Previous experience with mouse biology and genetics are of advantage. Career development including grant applications and habilitation are encouraged.
