A 3-year PhD scholarship is available at the wind energy division at Risø DTU.
Application Deadline: 20 July 2009
PhD Scholarship - highly-flexible Wind Turbine Rotor: Design and Validation Wind Energy Division at Risø DTU
Project description
This project will deliver proof-of-concept of a wind turbine rotor with a high degree of torsional flexibility and look at the use of aero-elastic tailoring techniques as a passive means of controlling the power and speed of the turbine. The aeroelastic code HAWC2, developed by Risø DTU, will be used throughout the investigations of large blade deflections and used in the design process of the flexible rotor. A scale model of the turbine will be build and tested in the wind tunnel located at Delft University and results will be compared to the predicted behaviour of the rotor.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering preferably in Aeronautical/Wind turbine Engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree in engineering. We are looking for a highly-motivated Aeronautical/Wind turbine Engineer who is willing to build up in-depth expertise in wind turbine design. You have to have an excellent knowledge of English.
Application
We must have your online application by 20 July 2009. Please open the link “apply online” and fill in the application form and attach your application and CV. Applications must include documentation of a completed master’s degree.
All interested candidates irrespective of age, gender, race, religion or ethnic background are requested to apply.
