Closing date for receipt of applications: 31 August 2009 Suitable for Chemist or Physical Chemist, with an interest in both experimental measurements (for instance scanning tunnelling microscopy, STM) and synthetic chemistry. Description: A fully-funded PhD studentship based in the Department of Chemistry, Liverpool University in the groups of Professor Richard Nichols and Dr. Simon Higgins and is available from September / October 2009. The project aims to synthesise, measure and understand the electrical properties of single molecule wires. Potential applications include molecular nano-electronics and molecular spintronics. The project is in collaboration with Xiamen University (China) and Bristol University and visits to the group in China are included. Supervisors: Professor Richard Nichols and Dr. Simon Higgins, Chemistry Department, University of Liverpool More information on our research in Single Molecule Electronics can be found at: http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~nichols/ and about the Chemistry Department in Liverpool at:
