Texas Super Teacher Scholarship Program, University of Phoenix Houston Campus

UNIVERSITY OF PHOENIX SUPER TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
University of Phoenix Houston Campus in Texas has been a leader in helping adults achieve their educational goals for over 10 years. University of Phoenix Houston campuses are pleased to announce the offering of a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction (MAED/CI) degree program. Our Texas specific MAED/CI program has been approved by the Texas Education Agency. University of Phoenix Houston Campus will award a scholarship to a deserving individual pursing a master’s degree in education. One (1) $5,000 scholarship will be awarded on November 16, 2009 to be applied towards tuition and fees for a Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction degree program.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Candidates for the scholarship must demonstrate the following to be considered:

1. Applicants who reside in the United States must meet one of the following requirements: be a legal resident of the United States; have been granted permanent residency; have a valid visa that does not prohibit educational studies; have been granted temporary protected status along with approved Notice of Action issued by Citizen Immigration Services and verified through CIS Form g-845; or have been granted asylum along with the approved Notice of Action issued by the Citizen Immigration Services.

2. Applicant must currently be a licensed teacher in the state of Texas.

3. Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree from a regional accredited University and meet University of Phoenix education admission requirements.

4. Applicant must not be currently receiving or will be receiving once enrolled 100% tuition reimbursement from any source(s).

5. Are not employees or family members of employees of Apollo Group, Inc., University of Phoenix, Western International University, Institute for Professional Development or any other subsidiary of Apollo Group, Inc.

6. Submit a complete, signed application, together with all supporting documentation, if any, by the deadline date listed under the Selection Process section. The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to applicant.

7. Submit an essay. High importance will be placed on the applicant’s desire to advance in their education, with an emphasis on furthering their careers, and their impact in the community for which they reside. To be considered, the essay must meet the following requirements:

a. Each of the four questions should be answered in complete sentences and paragraph format with approximately 4-7 sentences.
?Why do you want to pursue the MAED/C&I program?
? How will the program at University of Phoenix help you to become a better teacher?
?What impact will you have on the community?
?What skills or expertise do you possess that make you a strong teacher?
b. Double spaced,
c. 12 point font,
d. 8 x 11 paper, and
e. Pages must be paper-clipped together (no staples).

Deadline Date: A complete application and supporting documentation, if any, must be received on or

before November 2, 2009.

Applications received after the designated deadline date will not be considered. No exceptions.
