The Neurooncological Research Laboratory at the Department of Neurosurgery is looking for a
Postdoc (Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Medicine)

The group studies the effects of nitric oxide donors on proliferation, migration, invasion and angiogenesis in malignant gliomas in vitro and in vivo.
The varied research activities include both cell culture, molecular and cell biology and immunohistochemical techniques as well as in vivo work using rodent glioma models.
The postdoc will be the group leader of a small, but expanding research group (currently 1 BTA, 2 doctoral candidates) and should etablish and expand new methods and interdisciplinary projects and collaborations. The position offers the opportunity to actively participate in the design and implementation of the neurooncological research focus.
We offer a modern, well-equipped lab in the Neurocenter at the University Medical Center Freiburg with its active clinical neurooncoloy and several neuroscience lab units offering the opportunity for a productive basic and translational research.
Your profile:
• Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine or equivalent
• Several years of experience in a research lab
• Experience in molecular and cell biology methods and histology
• Experience in working with and handling laboratory animals
• Organizational skills and capability to plan and carry out experiments independently
• High motivation and commitment to the work
• Ability to work in a team
• Experience in writing scientific manuscripts and grant proposals
• Fluency in both written and spoken German and English
The initial appointment will be for two year with the possibility of extension. Payment and social benefits will be in accordance with the regulations of the German TV-L.
